Welcome to Benedict Pics where I'm on a quest to find the best Eggs Benedict in Brooklyn. Or Manhattan. Really this is just an excuse to go to brunch and order Eggs Benedict every time. But ratings makes things official!

Eggs Benedict @ Clinton Park Cafe

Eggs Benedict @ Clinton Park Cafe

Clinton Park Cafe is a small diner/cafe next to the Pratt Institute campus, but oddly didn't seemed totally filled with students. One of the major benefits is that they open at 7am, so if you need an early, brunch, this is a good place. It was crowded the whole time we were there and they seemed very understaffed, but the wait still wasn't too bad. The prices were great too, only $8 for the benedict. But is the low price worth it for the quality? Here's the breakdown.

This looks so diner.

Base: English Muffin. Standard muffin, but barely toasted at all. I was concerned about it as soon as I made my first cut. The muffin was just too soft from the beginning and only continued to fall apart more and more as I ate.
Score: 2

Non-Egg Protein: Canadian Bacon. There was certainly enough ham to go around the entire muffin but maybe a little on the thin side. It's always nice though when there is enough meat for each bite. Nothing fancy, but adequate.
Score: 4

Eggs: One good, one not so good. The first egg was great with a nice runny yolk that just oozed over everything. Of course completely destroying the muffin in the process but I'd rather have a soggy muffin than a hard egg. The second egg wasn't so good though. It's hard to tell from the picture, but this egg was soft boiled, not poached. The runny yolk underneath it was the entirety of the liquid, the rest was a soft solid. Not the worst cook for a benedict, but not ideal.
Score: 7

This is pretty much perfection right here.

The inside yolk just sat there like a weird yolk disc inside the egg.

Sauce: Hollandaise. This first bite of the hollandaise by itself was heavy on the citrus side, but it mixed well with the other elements. If anything, it felt a little heavy, but wasn't distracting, it was just kind of there.
Score: 3

Sides: Home fries. This is a diner, so this was a natural fit. They were cooked well and plentiful, but they could have used more peppers for variety. There were definitely plenty of them though, maybe even too much, but they were good to soak up the extra yolk that did make it out, so the two good eggs would have been even better for the potatoes.
Score: 4

Bonus: None. Again, this benedict was nothing special, but if you're craving just a solid diner version of an eggs benedict, this is that.

Total Score: 20/30
